  • Aug. 21st, 2008 at 8:37 AM

I know I haven't posted in awhile but many changes coming down the pike...just a note to let you all know I am posting over in sg_boobookittie from here on out, go add me if you haven't already. See you there.

We're going to have to go to Belgium

  • Jun. 10th, 2008 at 8:25 AM

As a kid, I loved Belgian Waffles. As an adult, I've loved Belgian Chocolates. Recently, hubby and I have discovered that we love Belgian Beer-especially Hoegarden.

I did a search to see what I else I might like, since this seems to be a trend: http://www.visitbelgium.com/food.htm

Seafood aside, weird meat aside-we're just gonna have to go to Belgium...it's now on our list.

On another food-related note-I think I perfected my chicken salad recipe last night. Will post later.

Summmer my ass!

  • Jun. 10th, 2008 at 7:29 AM

I'm locked in the bedroom with the space heater going. WTF? The pug was banished back out to the dining room due to his incessant (and no longer charming) snoring.  HE is in front of the heater out there that heats the whole house. I couldn't justifiy turning it on higher than the low temp its already on...See, Smell (our doxie named Elle but having the unfortunate nick of Smell for a few years now) is smart--she's staying in her cubby by the space heater. She's no dummy.

Meanwhile, here I sit, freezing my butt off. My nose is icy!  I popped out of bed at 6:30am and cannot go back to sleep. Watched Cast Away for the first time last night and dreamt of creepy, bloody vollyeballs. *shudders*  So here I sit. I can't get to the coffee maker because there are boxes in front of it on the kitchen floor. I'm gonna have to suck it up and go  move them, soon but I just don't have the heart to make all that noise when hubby has to work in 2 hours.  Side Note: The new Dunkin Donuts coffee ain't half bad. We got the French Vanilla flavor and while those flavored coffees usually taste disgustingly artificial to me--this one did not. It even reheated in the microwave well without getting that burnt flavor.

Still waiting to hear back from LL for my final (informal) interview...its making me crazy. I've never been very good at being patient and I am constantly finding I have to wait for important things. I hate it.  I just want to know what my schedule will be and what days off I will have. That's all I need to know. *bangs head* I want to make plans dammit!  So the saying goes, "Soon grasshoppa, soon." Bite me.

I'm not as sore today as I was yesterday so I should be able to unpack the house a bit more. I can't stand all the boxes in the way-which is why we kept them in the garage in the first place. I just have to suck it up and unpack them. I'll pretend its Christmas. It'll be fun.

*sigh*

I have earthquake radar

  • Jun. 9th, 2008 at 11:26 AM

It started here:

Then when to this:

Perhaps it is due to this:

I have a sixth sense when it comes to earthquakes.  There have been earthquakes all this weekend, starting friday....they hit in Greece, Algeria and then resumed in NV. I was squirrl;y and had my radar up last week. Yup, earthquakes and in the law of threes. 3 locations across the world. My spidey-sense at work again. Laugh if you will. I've tested it over the years and it works pretty good.

I also have a weird quirk that when my left hand itches, I receive money. No, it doesn't work for paydays. It's random money. And it happens all the time. R. and I have totally tested that one. LOL

Anyway, the Reno ones have just been odd to me in general and R. told me about the Calderas today. Makes ya wonder if ID, WY and North NV aren't gonna blow apart or at least release some steam and make a few more "New Faithfuls.":

PSA: LJ is a bit buggy these days

  • Jun. 8th, 2008 at 9:45 AM

If it seems you are dropped or I am re-adding you, please note LJ has been dropping friends, sending out emails that you have been dropped/added but actually have not been, and normal lj coding for cut tags and usernames has not been working either. Just a note.

Trying to find some inspiration

  • Jun. 6th, 2008 at 6:09 PM

It was cloudy and dark today so I was unable to get outside and take the photos I wanted to.  I have decided to watch Marie Antoinette for some much needed inspiration-on several counts: For fashion ideas and for decorating ideas.  I feel like I am getting a crack fix. *bounce*

On painting the interior of our house

  • Jun. 5th, 2008 at 5:13 PM

I have been trying for months now to figure out how to decorate our home-especially the basic color schemes for each room. I started with locating the draperies for each room first, as they are a major focal point.

In the dining room we have red and gold striped curtains across one huge window overlooking the side yard, neighbors house and view of the water and trees.  For the living rooms three windows, I have chosen midnight blue and gold scrollwork curtains.  There are two tall windows on either side of the front door that I am still trying to find coverings for. The cold air really seems to seep in in that area during the winter. We need to cover those windows during that time and put a long covering at the bottom of the door.  I'm trying to find a dauchsund one, as I saw it in a catalog and should have bought it then.

I'm still uncertain on the bedroom, kitchen or scullery (mud/laundry room). Then there are the two bedrooms upstairs and hubby's office. The office is made out of cedar and has shutters with lattice. We may not need curtains in there but it might help with warmth in the winter by keeping the heat in.

I'm thinking french vanilla walls with a dark wood stain on the trim for the dining room but am at a loss for the living room.  There is a  silvery grey that might go well but I feel that would be too darkening when its so gray outside most of the year. *sigh*  And then there is the bathroom and its window, not to mention the clawfoot tub which needs pretty curtains as well as shower curtains. Complicated.

I need to go to the hardware store and get a bunch of swatches. More when I get those, hopefully this Saturday...

I am a huge fan of [info]lord_whimsy

  • Jun. 5th, 2008 at 12:40 PM

I discovered his journal about 2 years ago and just love him to pieces. He has inspired me in the areas of nature and horticulture. I was reading his journal this morning and came across an old entry that asked his readers "If you could be a whimsy, what would your name be and what would you look like?".  While I cannot come up with a name to save my life, I was reminded of a puppy that my mother and I named "Sir Beauregard Snuggles and/or Cuddles." Apparantly I couldn't decide whether he should have the name "Snuggles" or "Cuddles" and so we put them together.

I was six. :D

Can you really live off water and sunshine?

  • Jun. 5th, 2008 at 12:31 PM

For those of you not in WA, I don't know how many of you know about WA state, especially the Seattle area...suffice it to say we are known for our rain. Here it is almost summer and I STILL have not gotten outside to capture everything in bloom on film! While it has rained all morning,  it appears that the sun may be coming out--if this is the case then I will head outside and take some photos to post here. Meanwhile, I will post what it looked like during the previous winter.   The first is a foggy winter day, and there is supposed to be a huge body of water bahind the line of trees...THAT's how foggy it is!

Balcony shot of the snow on Leo and Tolstoy.

A wintery view outside our living room windows.

Early Spring view from front of house-outside the living room windows again.

A Spring mushroom, approximately 6" across. Stunning!
